Biography
Imi Knoebel (*1940 in Dessau) studied under Beuys at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. The artist is interested in seriality, spare and special balanced geometries, concentration of form and material. His paintings and objects explore relationships between color, structure, and formal interaction. Relationship to Minimal Art. Early references are Kasimir Malevich and the Bauhaus. Dynamic explorations in the seventies. His practice also involves drawing, photography, projections, and installation. His work belongs in famous international collections.
